What comes with the Garrett GT3788VA Duramax turbo kit?

An important part of upgrading your Chevy Duramax is the turbocharger vane actuator. Lucky for you, the Garrett Duramax upgrade comes complete with both the vane actuator solenoid as well as the vane position sensor.

What does this mean for you? It’s simply the easiest Duramax turbocharger upgrade on the market.

Is this the best Garrett Duramax Upgrade?

It’s hard to argue with the results. The Duramax has changed quite a bit since it’s inception in 2001. Although there are many engine codes involved, the Duramax is still an incredible platform. The roots of the Duramax start in 2001 with the LB7 engine. Following the first engine the Duramax went to the incredible LLY in the 2004 model year.

Sadly Chevy went a different direction in 2006 with the LBZ engine, followed by the LMM in 2007. After federal emissions laws were changed in 2011, the Duramax took on the new LML moniker.

Although the LML engine is not as popular as some of the Duramax predecessors due to the Selective Catalyst Reduction (or SCR), it’s still very popular among enthusiasts.

What is Duramax Selective Catalyst Reduction

SCR is a system that uses exhaust fluid to break down harmful nitrogen oxides. Also included in the emissions arsenal was a 9th injector, or dosing valve, which sprayed fuel directly into the exhaust stream during a re-gen to clean out the exhaust filter.

This eliminated the problem LMM’s had where diesel fuel would wind up in the engine oil, which could lead to major problems. So, by relying on an external fuel source for a DPF re-gen, the LML kept its oil free of any fuel dilution. Speaking of fuel, the LML was the first Duramax to be able to run on a B20 blend of biodiesel.
