ACT designed their lineup of Ford flywheels to provide the racer and enthusiast with the ultimate in Ford performance drivetrain components. Most stock Mustang flywheels are heavy cast iron and are designed for optimum drivability by storing some of the Mustang power in the form of inertia.
These lightened Ford flywheels from ACT provide significantly improved engine response and acceleration without compromising drivability.
All XACT flywheels from Advanced Clutch Technology are designed using the latest CAD and FEA (Finite Element Analysis) processes to evaluate all design alternatives for maximum results possible.
The Ford Prolite flywheel is designed for maximum throttle response, and lowest inertia. Super rigid, precision made and dynamically balanced the Ford XACT Prolite Flywheel is recommended for road and rally racing, and is perfect for drag and occasional Street use. CAD designed, CNC machined and computer balance for quality and precision, the XACT flywheel also features an intergral ring gear induction hardened for maximum gear life and minimal starter wear.
Engineers at ACT demand tight tolerances for fit, concentricity and parallelism so that flywheels will have an exact fit onto the Ford crankshaft, and operate smoothly even at an extremely high rpm. All flywheels are CNC machined and dynamically computer balanced for super smooth high RPM reliability.
