The MSD 6 Offroad ignitions' capacitive discharge design produces multiple sparks from idle to 3,000 rpm. This ensures that complete combustion occurs just after your piston passes top dead center, giving you the maximum available power. They feature a special connector that plugs directly into an external rev limiter for easy upgradeability. The 6 Offroad ignitions' circuitry is encapsulated with an epoxy coating, creating a water and vibration-proof ignition fit for the great outdoors. Weathertight connectors are included for positive locking, water-resistant electrical connections. These ignitions work with virtually any vehicle using a 12 V electrical system and a distributor. They work with points, amplifiers, or magnetic pickups on 4, 6, or 8-cylinder engines.
The MSD 6-Offroad Ignition Control will provide your engine the spark power it needs to get you over, through, under and around any obstacles you encounter. From an idle to 3,000 rpm the MSD produces multiple sparks rather than just a single spark which is a for crawling over rocks or creeping up steep grades. This spark series lasts for 20° of crankshaft rotation and ensures complete combustion of the fuel mixture producing quick throttle response and a smooth idle.
To battle the harsh off-road elements, the 6-Offroad is completely potted with an epoxy compound called Ciba™. This material encases the circuits creating a water and vibration proof ignition. Weathertight connectors are also installed to provide positive locking and water resistant electrical connections.
The 6-Offroad will install to virtually any vehicle with a 12 volt electrical system and a distributor. It will connect to points, amplifiers or magnetic pickups on 4, 6 or 8-cylinder engines.
NOTE: The MSD 6-Offroad Ignition Control features a special connector that plugs directly into an external rev limiter (Off-road Rev Control, part# 8769).

This Rev Control plugs directly into a special Weathertight Connector on the MSD 6-Offroad Ignition Control. It allows you to set an rpm limit that will save your engine from over-rev damage in the event of driveline failure, slick spots on the trail or missed shifts. The Soft Touch rev limiting function is quick and smooth with no harsh backfires or roughness. This is accomplished by randomly dropping the spark to individual cylinders, then firing them on the next cycle to prevent fuel from loading up in the cylinder. The rpm limit is adjustable with special waterproof RPM Modules (4,000, 6,000 and 8,000 RPM modules included). Like the 6-Offroad Ignition, the Rev Control is completely potted with ResTech compound forming a waterproof seal over the circuits. Weathertight connectors provide locked and sealed connections. NOTE: Must be used with the MSD 6-OffRoad Ignition. OBD II and CARB Approved per E.O. D-40-29 with PN8738
