MSD's renowned 6 series ignition boxes feature a capacitive discharge ignition design. Straight away from the conventional inductive ignition systems, these ignition boxes to not require the coil to store up and step up the voltage to maximum strength in between each cylinder firing. Also at higher rpm since there is less time between charges, you can expect a consistent and repeatable spark pattern.
The MSD ignition features a capacitor which is quickly charged from 460-480 volts and fired all within one millisecond. Providing maximum spark and consistent performance is what has made MSD an industry leader in ignition systems for combustion engines.
Features:
Rev Limiters - 6AL, 6ALN, 6BTM : These three ignitions are equipped with a built-in adjustable soft touch rev control, while all other boxes are adjustable by way of plug-in modules which are available in 100. RPM increments
Soft Touch Circuitry : provides a smooth and accurate rev limit by dropping the spark to individual cylinders.
6T and 6TN ignitions feature a special or wire connector that plugs directly into an external rev limiter, while the MSD 8738 rev control or 8969 Engine Control modules come with different features.
Rubber shock mounts and 3000, 6000, 7000, and 8000 RPM modules included.
Other MSD RPM Controls can connect to the 6AL (e.g. 3-Step Module Selector or RPM-Activated Switch)
OBD-II approved and 50-state legal via EO #D-40-26
