| Q: |
Does AEM have recommended settings for my cam gears? |
| A: |
We no longer make cam gear setting recommendations because of the myriad of different engine modification combinations that can affect the tuning of the cam gears. For best results, we recommend that you tune your cam gears using a dynamometer or at the track using a datalogging device so you can document quantifiable gains and eliminate inconsistencies. With proper tuning, our cam gears will help you extract the most useable power from your engine combination. |

| Q: |
Will TRU-TIME Cam Gears void my vehicle warranty? |
| A: |
No. When our cam gears are properly installed and tuned they will perform flawlessly. However, If they are NOT installed or tuned properly they can cause engine damage and a warranty claim may be denied. Please reference the instructions for proper installation and tuning of our cam gears. If you are not comfortable with the installation, please contact us at (310) 484-2322, extension 203 and we will help you find an installation shop in your area.

| Q: |
Do I have to use a special “T” belt with TRU-TIME Cam Gears? |
| A: |
No. AEM guarantees that the tooth profile on the TRU-TIME cam gears will match the O.E.M. belt profile. You do not need to buy a special belt. We do recommend that you service your timing belt according to the factory specifications, and that you replace your factory timing belt with a new one if you see damage or wear during installation, tuning or maintenance of your cam gears. |
| |
| Q: |
Do cam gears wear out? |
| A: |
AEM TRU-TIME Cam Gears have a hard anodized outer gear section that delivers exceptional wear resistance, and laser-etched timing marks that will never wear off. Our hard anodizing on the leading edge of the gear is lab-test proven as the toughest on the market. Under normal conditions, our cam gears will not wear out. If you use our cam gears in sandy regions or climates with a very high concentration of dirt (typically encountered in off road racing) excessive wear can occur due to the abrasion of the sand. This situation would apply to ANY cam gear, regardless of the manufacturer. |

| Q: |
If I keep my settings at zero and keep the cam cover on them, are TRU-TIME cam gears emissions legal? |
| A: |
No. Although our gears do not affect emissions when set at zero, they are still adjustable and cannot be granted an E.O. for 50-state legality. They are intended for use on off road vehicles only. |
