The ACT Sport clutch kit is designed to be their entry level clutch kit meant for the bolt on enthusiast who wants streetability over performance. With a 10-30 percent increase over stock clamping force and a moderate pedal effort, it is the ultimate in daily driver comfort while retaining the high standards of excellence ACT has set. The ACT Heavy Duty clutch kit is designed to be a "Stage 1" clutch kit. It offers much more holding power than the stock clutch, and can take much more abuse as well. The ACT Heavy Duty does offer a heavier pedal feel than stock. Some people do like this, while others do not. We tend to find people who get used to the heavier pedal feel of the ACT Heavy Duty Clutch say they never want to go back to a softer clutch again. The clutch offers great feedback and response, and puts the driver in a great race position. Sometimes this clutch kit is referred to as an ACT 2100. This designation was originally brought up by the DSM crowd (Mitsubishi Eclipse, Eagle Talon, Plymouth Laser), who referred to this clutch as the ACT 2100, because it offered a 2100lb pressure plate. ACT does not use these designations, and this clutch is known as the Heavy Duty.
We recommend the ACT Heavy Duty clutch kit to anyone who has a completely stock car, all the way to the basic bolt ons. For a Acura Integra or a Honda Civic, we would recommend this clutch for up to full intake, exhaust, and possibly a low boost forced induction system. If you have more modifications, or race your car a lot, we suggest the ACT Xtreme Duty Clutch Kit.
This clutch kit, is also known as an ACT "Stage 2" clutch kit. The Xtreme duty is made for even more abuse, more horsepower and torque levels, and more holding power over the Heavy Duty. It offers even more pedal pressure, and some people have said the pedal is stiff with this Xtreme duty clutch kit. In DSM circles, this clutch is widely known as the ACT 2600. It was referred to as the ACT 2600 because of it's 2600lb pressure plate.
We recommend the ACT Xtreme duty clutch kit to those who have upgraded turbos, or bolt on turbo kits. This is the clutch you want. Great engagement, great pedal feel, and simply the best all around clutch. This clutch is our favorite!

Now that you have decided on your clutch, we recommend to get an ACT Streetlite flywheel to take full advantage of your new ACT clutch kit. Generally, you can resurface your old flywheel, but after about $100 of work, the stock flywheel is still a heavy non performance oriented part. With a new ACT Prolite lightweight flywheel, you will notice faster revs, quicker shifts, and less rotational mass. You do not need to resurface these flywheels… just bolt it on, and they are ready to go!
