The distributor cap and distributor rotor should be changed during every tune up or every two years. The distributor cap and rotor are an essential part of the cars ignition system and allows the ignition spark to travel from the spark plug coil to the spark plugs at the correct timing. A bad cap or rotor will cause the car or truck to stumble or hesitate during acceleration due to contamination or a small crack in the distributor cap.
